Asbestos Surveys and Management
Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous silicate mineral that was used in building products and insulation materials prior to the 1970’s. Due to the fibrous nature of asbestos, the microscopic particles become airborne when disturbed and may be inhaled into the lungs. Serious health problems, including asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer, may result from exposure to airborne asbestos fibers. Asbestos-related diseases may go unnoticed for 15-40 years.
Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) which are intact and in good condition do not generally pose a health risk. As ACM deteriorate over time or undergo damage by external forces, such as water, hitting, friction, or vibrations, the microscopic fibers are released into the air and may begin to pose health risks to individuals who inhale the particles.
MartinEnviro can complete asbestos surveys in order to accurately ascertain the potential for ACM within a building. Upon detection of any ACM within a building, an abatement or monitoring plan can be devised and coordinated by MartinEnviro A, all under the auspices of a Florida Certified Asbestos Consultant. |
